Highlight Vault saves the following information locally on your device only:

Text you choose to highlight and save
The URL of the page where the highlight was made
The title of the page (if available)
The timestamp when you saved the highlight

How Your Information is Used

Your saved highlights are used exclusively within the extension to:

Display your saved highlights in the extension popup
Enable search functionality across your highlights
Re-apply visual highlights when you revisit pages
Allow you to export your data when requested

Data Storage & Security

All data is stored using Chrome's local storage API
Data never leaves your device
No external servers or databases are used
Data is as secure as your Chrome browser profile

Third-Party Access

We do not share your data with anyone because we never have access to it.

No analytics services
No advertising networks
No third-party libraries that collect data
No external API calls

Your Rights

You have complete control over your data:

View all your highlights anytime through the extension popup
Delete individual highlights or clear all data
Export your data in JSON or text format
Uninstall the extension to remove all associated data

Any updates to this privacy policy will be reflected here with an updated date. The extension will always maintain its local-only, privacy-first approach.
